midterm answers
I am just wondering what answers everyone got for the midterm questions. To start with, what did everyone get for the membrain potential question?

Re: midterm answers
its the question where the options were negative, positive, depolarized and hyperpolarized. I am also interested to here your answer for the perception question, you know, the one that asked about the man mistaking a wolverine for a dog? One final question, do you know if the marks are usually bumped up after tests?

Re: midterm answers
a) the membrane potential question: heh... i remember struggling with choosing either 'positive' or 'negative'... i think i chose the latter though. and according to p. 90 of the textbook, at resting membrane potential "the electrical charge inside the neuron is slightly more negative than that outside the neuron."
b) unsure about the werewolf question. maybe somebody who knows the answer for sure can comment!
and as for whether or not it was marked on a curve, i guess we'll see. hopefully results are posted soon!

Re: midterm answers
Yeah I believe the answer is negative.
As for the werewolf question, it was the one where under hazy/unsure circumstances, our brain can only make the best judgement possible using the most realistic possibility, i.e. mistaking the werewolf for a dog.

Marks
Well the two content questions are answered, and as for marks... My father was a prof for UofT math department a while back, and I asked him about how the bumping works:
There, they only bumped up or down the final marks (After the final exam), because its only those that count. We could do awesome as a class on the first, and fail the second, and the average will stay where it should be, around a 70. So for now, you actually have a fair representation of your mark.
....I think.
